Mumbai’s antiSOCIAL to host Generation WHY’s second edition in association with Rolling Stone India.

The Generation WHY journey continues with the second edition lined up featuring 4 fresh acts and a new venue.

The follow up to the successful first edition sees Generation WHY comes in association with music magazine wizards, Rolling Stone (India) and Music gear pioneers, Furtados Music.

As India’s biggest music magazine, it has always been our endeavor to put the spotlight on budding artists, and with this partnership with Generation WHY, we hope to discover and introduce talent that is deserving of a big stage.

After hosting Mumbai-based hip-hop crew, SWADESI, Pune Post-rock act, CAT KAMIKAZEE, Pop-rock band THE RYAN VICTOR PROJECT, and Mumbai’s Psychedelic Rock outfit, MILK at Hard Rock Café, Andheri, the genre-bending gig series heads to antiSOCIAL, Khar for the second edition. The idea of promoting fresh talents and underground music conceptualized Aftab Khan sees Bancubator vanquisher, SMALLTALK, Bangalore’s electronic duo NIKHIL NARENDRA & SHREYAS DIPALI, Mumbai-based progressive instrument outfit, ACROSS SECONDS and a special collaborative set TANSANE x NIGEL take center stage.

The focus of Generation WHY is to question the genre-bound status quo of the live independent music scene in the country. Every artist featured on Generation WHY is handpicked as the best new talent to come out of their respective spheres. These are the young ones who are forever bubbling under, ready to break through.

Fresh of their Bancubator victory, the neo-soul collective will kick off the second edition bringing the melody enriched, hook-driven songs for an exhilarating live spectacle. With intriguing samples and raw, wholesome layers, Nikhil on Sythns and Sheryas on Drums are represent the live electronica space with their experimental soundscape before prog-post rockers, ACROSS SECONDS bring their fuse heartwarming melodies featuring odd time signatures with poly-rhythms to antiSOCIAL. The sophomore edition will see ebbing and flowing luminously through Hindustani classical, trip hop, orchestral western classical, jazz, experimental electronica and RnB; Tansane x Nigel blend musical milieu beyond eras. April 12th will see one half of Tansane, Sharan Punjabi, play a collaborative set with Nigel Rajaratnam on the saxophone.
